Moving is fun ... NOT
It's been a little while since I last blogged ... two words ... we moved. For those of you who know what it's like to move and unpack a house with a 6 month old, you can empathize with me how seriously slow it is. I don't typically move in "seriously slow" so this has been a test of patience and endurance. Here's my top 5 moments of the last two weeks ...
#5 - Moving in Phoenix, in July, what were we thinking. That day it was 102°F and 85% humidity. Yuck!
#4 - I'm too cheap to buy "transitional clothing" so I've still been wearing my maternity clothes ... this week I fit back into some of my old shorts. I can't remember the last time I zipped anything up, it's been all elastic waists for over a year, baby!
#3 - Jason and I got to sleep on our Tempurpedic mattress again ... it was heavenly.
#2 - Kalyn has resumed sleeping through the night ... in her own room ... also heavenly.
#1 - Not so heavenly ... Kalyn scratched my cornea with her fingernail. It was only slightly less painful than labor. I was pretty much blinded. Jason had to lead me into the eye doc office (blind), I had to sign papers (blind), play with Kalyn (blind). Luckily they patched my eye ball and it healed in one day. I purchased new nail clippers (other pair lost in the move) the next day.

I'm an aunt ... again!!!
A Tribute to my Little Pumpkin Head
Kalyn turned 6 months a few days ago. When she was just born I marveled at how small she was, which made me think of how small all her organs were too. Her little heart, the size of her fist, pumping blood through her little veins. Her little lungs and little stomach. I even thought about how small her intestines were compared to mine. I wondered how long they would stretch. I know it's weird ... that's why God created us to not read each other's minds. And now she's 6 months. Jason and I were just saying that in our 18 years of direct parenting, we will only have 36 six month segments ... and now we only have 35 more. Here are pictures charting her growth ...

1st Time Swimming
Father's Day

I know Father's Day was a weeks ago, but the way I look at it, I'm just glad I'm getting anything up. So, I got Jason a child carrier, hiking pack for kids that he's been eye-balling ever since I got pregnant, and planned for a nice hike in Flagstaff. It was a nice hike all right ... 8 miles round trip, 4 miles uphill covering 2400 elevation feel gain. Maybe we should have considered a different hike after reading the description as "strenuous". By the end of the hike our feet were numb and the sight of our car was never so relieving. All in all ... a great day. And, getting out of the heat and getting into nature was just what we needed. The
next day was a different story when I realized how out of shape I was ... man was I sore. PS ... Jason wasn't grumpy (in the first picture), I caught him in a weird look, but I thought Kalyn sleeping was precious.

Whoomp, there it is!
It's inevitable, I turn on the TV for 20 minutes while I nurse Kalyn and then get stuck watching some brainless and totally amusing show. So, the other day I was watching VH1 1980 one hit wonders when ... you guessed it ... they covered Whoomp, there it is. With such powerful lyrics, why have we let this go? I think we should revive "Whoomp there it is." Think about how useful it could be ...
- I've had the Bosse Posse blog for 3 weeks and have now finally begun to blog ... Whoomp, there is is!
- I got to eat In-n-Out today ... Whoomp, there is is!
- Kalyn slept all night ... Whoomp, there is is!
- I haven't shaved my legs in a week ... Whoomp, there is is!
Are you with me? Let's bring it back.
